Rob and I will be moving around to different locations, so feel free to follow us or do your own thing! We will be at:
The Royal Kona December 28, 2019 - January 2, 2020
Private Estate from January 2-6, 2020
Mauna Kea Beach Hotel from January 6-8, 2020
We have decided to forgo a traditional room block so that our guests have flexibility to arrive and depart the island at their preference and also be able to stay where they prefer. We do recommend staying with us at the Royal Kona and we recommend booking your accommodations early as they will sell out close to the holidays.
Rob and I love downtown Kona, accommodations in this area are perfect if you plan to take advantage of adventures all over the island during the day and want easy access to shops, restaurants and bars at night.
Stay with us at the Royal Kona Hotel! The rooms at the hotel are not luxurious, but all of the advantages make up for it. The location is amazing, right on the ocean and you hear the waves hitting the rocks from every room. Every room has a great view, there is a small private lagoon for swimming, a great bar in the lobby and it’s right downtown so you can walk to anything you need (food, bars, shopping, etc) in moments. It’s not on a sandy beach, so this is a great location if you plan to take advantage of the island adventures during the day and want easy access to downtown at night. The rates currently start at $185.00 per night, which is a good deal, but upgrade to the Ocean View room if you can swing it.
There are a lot of other places to stay downtown, hotels and vacation rentals. We have stayed at the King Kamehameha Marriott which is also a great location. A majority of the vacation rentals are listed on VRBO, we recently stayed at the Kona Reef, which was very nice.
Just south of downtown there is also a Sheraton, which tends to have good rates as well.
20-40 minutes north of downtown you will find all of the Hawaii style resorts you are probably imagining - beachfront with giant pools. These are great places to stay if you want to sit on the beach all day relaxing and are okay spending a bit more on food/drinks at the hotel restaurants and bars. We’re happy to have our wedding shuttle pick you up and drop you off at any resort of your choice the night of the event.
Mauna Kea Beach Hotel is by far our favorite resort style hotel on the island, but we are always lucky enough to book it with reward points. There are many other resort options north of the airport as well. Fairmont Orchid, Hilton Waikoloa Village, Waikoloa Beach Marriott, Westin Hapuna Beach, and Four Seasons Hualalai are all on the North side of the island, but be warned, they are not cheap.
We don’t recommend these locations for accommodations because they are far away (2+ hours) and very rainy. If you prefer to stay in these areas, please feel free. Note that we won't be providing transportation to our wedding from these areas of the island.
The wedding will take place at an estate 1.5 miles south of downtown.
